After an important planning and development work by LIFE Ebro Resilience P1, the board game Inundable is a reality. An educational material for the third cycle of Primary School and 1st of ESO to deal with flood risk, management measures and the concept of land management.
The Capacity Building team of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project created and defined this complete game for which they have had the support of EsCiencia, specialists in scientific dissemination.
In addition, its playability, objectives and concepts have gone through the reflection and contribution of ideas in the co-creation groups, spaces of participation that count with the presence of teachers, environmental educators, technical profiles…
It is a strategic and collaborative game, in which the teams build and define the river and through situation cards a game context is generated (floods, floods, droughts). During the game, elements typical of the Ebro riverbank are placed: towns, industries, agricultural and livestock farms, groves, and they are exposed to the reality of extreme phenomena.
The game is also supported by a series of videos that allow you to explore more about the Project, best practices, river ecosystems…

The activity has been implemented in schools in the intervention areas and other municipalities in the middle stretch of the Ebro. This April, a test was carried out in the CEIP Tomás Alvira in Zaragoza, where, in addition to playing, the students of the 6th grade of primary school reflected on rivers, floods and the concept of risk.
The game is a free educational resource and in this phase of the Project, copies are distributed in the centers where the activities have been carried out so that students can continue exploring the possibilities of the game and in some environmental education centers, such as the Center for Documentation and the Environment (CDAMAZ) of the City Council of Zaragoza or the Natural Environment Interpretation Center of the Government of Aragon in La Alfranca (Zaragoza).

Exhibition
This year 2025, the project has also launched an informative exhibition for the entire primary school cycle that is touring the centers of the municipalities in the intervention areas and others in the middle stretch of the Ebro. It has already visited CEIP Dos de Mayo in Castejón, in Navarra; CEIP Obispo Ezequiel Moreno, in Alfaro, in La Rioja and Osera de Ebro and Fuentes de Ebro, in Zaragoza.
Through a vinyl carpet with the design of a stretch of river, information panels, Velcro images, animal and plant figures, building blocks and a light table, two types of activities are carried out with the students:
- “Explorers of the Ebro River”: Aimed at students from 1st to 3rd grade of primary school, it seeks to discover the importance of water and the Ebro River, learning about its environment, biodiversity and changes over time.
- “Ebro River Mission”: Aimed at students from 4th to 6th grade of primary school, it focuses on the importance of water, biodiversity, flood risk management and the ecosystem services of the Ebro River through participatory activities.

The colors of the Ebro
Another of the most recent educational materials is the story “Los Colores del Ebro. The Colors of the Ebro mainly aimed at primary school students in the intervention areas and with the little drop Orbe as the main character, it narrates the adventure of the water cycle and presents a guide of activities mainly aimed at the second cycle of kindergarten and the first cycle of primary school.
The book includes a section of activities that are added to the proposals of the educational units that have been prepared for all schools in the Ebro Resilience territory.

The importance of disclosure
The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project, committed to improving the knowledge and resilience of the riparian population to flood risk, has developed a wide variety of informative and educational materials aimed at different audiences, with special attention to the educational sector.
These actions are part of a social capacity building plan aimed at improving knowledge of the flood phenomenon, promoting self-protection and creating spaces for participation.
In this context, training sessions are being held for teachers on floods and Ebro Resilience actions. This training combines online sessions on the flood phenomenon and face-to-face sessions, with special emphasis on the interpretive descents to learn about the river from the inside.
These descents are not only for teachers, secondary school students are also enjoying an activity that allows them to get to know sections of the project’s intervention from the river itself.
In collaboration with a specialized company, EbroNautas, we offer a safe navigation that combines recreational and educational activities about the river ecosystem, the actions carried out and the proposals of the project.
These descents include informative and educational stops with educational materials on flora, fauna and games on land management. Students from high schools such as Gonzalo de Berceo de Alfaro and IESO Castejón have already participated in these experiences.

Didactic units
To support the teaching work, didactic units that identify basic contents related to flood risk management have been developed and are available on this website.
These units are complemented with educational kits, adapted to the needs of each educational level (kindergarten, primary and secondary) and reviewed with the participation of the riparian population, the teaching sector and environmental educators in the co-creation groups. These suitcases contain all the materials necessary to carry out the proposed educational activities.
If you have any questions about these materials, please contact us at lifeebroresiliencep1-participacion@tragsa.es.

In addition to all this, there are other general dissemination actions, such as the photographic exhibition “When the river recovers its space” or the edition of informative sheets to explain the phenomenon of flooding to society.
The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project is an innovative proposal to address the phenomenon of flooding in the middle stretch of the Ebro, with a clear objective for the future: that the population and economic activities coexist with an Ebro in a good state of conservation without the inevitable floods causing significant damage.
Its partners are the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) and the public companies TRAGSA and TRAGSATEC; the governments of La Rioja, Navarra, through Gestión Ambiental de Navarra, S.A. (GAN-NIK) and Aragón and the Aragonese Water Institute.
